Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Rangapara College


Establishment and Function of IQAC:

The IQAC of Rangapara College was constituted on 29-09-2004 and since its inception it has been working for quality assurance of the college in different fields like teaching learning process, research, governance, documentation, extension activities, adoption of best practices and several others. The IQAC plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of the college and suggests the quality improvement measures. Significant improvement in quality have been made by institutionalizing the following IQAC initiatives:

  1. Preparation of the AQAR
  2. Preparation of Self Study Reports (SSR) of various accreditation bodies like NAAC, institutional data base preparation for NIRF, surveillance audit for ISO, Annual Institutional report submission of AISHE and to ensure registration in IRINS and updating of research publication of faculties in Vidwan.
  3. Improvement in quality of teaching-learning and research by regular monitoring and collecting feedback from different stakeholders like students, teachers, alumnus and guardians.
  4. Digitalisation of the library.
  5. Optimization and integration of modern methods (like the use of ICT, online classes, blended mode of teaching-learning, participative and experiential learning etc.) of teaching and learning.
  6. Plans to materialize the value of community services.
  7. Monitoring of overall progress by conducting Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA), Green Audit (GA), Energy Audit (EA), Hostel Audit and Library Audit.
  8. Documentation of the various programmes and activities leading to quality improvement.
  9. Digitalization of the central library of the college.
  10. Introduction of E-governance and decentralization of the administration.
  11. Establishing a strong community linkage with the surrounding villages by adopting villages and other social activities.
  12. Creating a student friendly green campus.
  13. Introduction of new programmes as per Govt. mission and policies.
  14. Registration of the institution as a SAWAM-NPTEL Local Chapter.
  15. Establishment of an Institutions Innovation Council in the campus as per the norms of Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India
  16. Green initiative in campus like tree plantation, installation of solar lights, banning use of plastic in the campus, creating noiseless corridors.
  17. MOU with Educational Institutions and Spiritual organisations.

The Governing Body (GB) of the college extends its support by approving the initiative of the IQAC to improve the academic atmosphere of the college. The GB regularly reviews the progress and makes recommendations if necessary.

Achievement of IQAC:

   Due to the continuous efforts and initiatives of IQAC, the institution has made a satisfactory progress in its journey to make the institution a student friendly quality education provider leading to all round development of the student as well as the society. The college is submitting the AQAR regularly for the last five years. Submission of SSR has led the college to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification. SSR for NIRF ranking has successfully been submitted. Online feedback of stakeholders has been introduced successfully. Number of ICT class rooms have been enhanced from two to ten classrooms. Online classes and examinations have been introduced successfully specially during the Covid pandemics. Participative and experiential learning have successfully been implemented. AAA, Green Audit, Energy Audit, Hostel Audit and Library Audit have been conducted during the last five years by the experts of the respective categories. Digitalization of the library has been done introducing the Koha open source library automation system. E-governance has been introduced by making the admission, examination form fill up and online registration of students, application and approval of leave of teachers and employees online, tender notice and vacant post advertisement is also done through the website of the college. To build a strong community linkage, the college has adopted five villages of the surrounding area under UNNAT BHARAT ABHIJAN scheme of Government of India. The college has also adopted an orphanage in a nearby village. Students of the UG classes extend free teaching to lower primary students of the nearby areas. Anti-tobacco campaigning, free sanitizer distribution, distribution of food and warm clothes to the needy people during lockdown period are some activities that the college takes up for community linkage. A student friendly campus has been created by planting new trees, banning plastic inside the college campus and encouraging students to follow the spirit of SWACCHA BHARAT ABHIJAN of Government of India. As a policy of implementing Government schemes, a fishery in college campus has been approved under the scheme of AMRIT SAROVAR of Govt. of India. Plantation of sandal wood has been planned under MGNREGA scheme. For implementation of the institutionalized quality assurance strategies various committees are in place appointed by the principal and approved by the governing body. This process of decentralization of the administration has helped the IQAC to successfully materialize the strategies of institutionalizing of quality assurance.

Institutional Preparedness for NEP:

The IQAC Rangapara College has prepared a plan in the line with the National Education Policy 2020, which mandates each Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) to award degrees and offer courses autonomously by 2035.
